Mission Statement

The Healing Horses Advisory Board was established in September 2008 to enhance the relationship between the Healing Horses Therapeutic Riding Center and its Riders and their Parents/Caregivers. The Advisory Board is a group of individuals representing many diverse fields, professions, and communities. The Advisory Board convenes quarterly to provide advice, advocacy, access, leverage and resources for the Healing Horses Therapeutic Riding Center.

The overall goal of the Advisory Board is to aid, foster, encourage, and promote Therapeutic Riding within the Coachella Valley .

Specific objectives for the Advisory Board are to provide advice and counsel to the Executive Director; To promote the goals and objectives of Healing Horses to all its constituent communities, including Riders, parents, and the local community of educators, therapists and friends; To promote an understanding of the distinctive role of Therapeutic Riding and its benefits to typical and special needs children, especially those on the Autism Spectrum; To aid the Executive Director in seeking public and private support for the Center.

Beth Aune-Nelson OTR/L
Beth established her practice in Pediatric Occupational Therapy in the Coachella Valley in 2000 in addition to being a Clinical Instructor at Loma Linda University School of Allied Health Professions. Along with her private practice, she works with special needs children enrolled at all three local school districts: CVUSD, DSUSD and PSUSD. Beth and her OT staff specialize in early intervention and continuing therapy for special needs children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders as well as children with physical disabilities.
Judy Morgan MS, CCC/SLP
Judy received her Masters in Communicative Disorders from University of Redlands. Judy’s focus is to provide speech and language therapy services to special needs children diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADD, ADHD, motor speech disorders and language processing disorders. She is the 2008 recipient of the Lucille M Wilson award for her dedication to working with children with autism and their families. Judy trains the staff and volunteers associated with Healing Horses so that the children and their parents are able to receive the maximum benefits from this therapeutic  riding program.
Gabriele Lawrence B.S. M.B.A .
Gabriele received her Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management from University of Nevada, Las Vegas joining ITT Sheraton upon graduation in their North America as well as Europe, Africa and Middle East Division. Upon returning to the US she joined The Walt Disney company while also obtaining her MBA from Pepperdine University. With stints in High-Tech companies like EarthLink, iSearch and Homestore she returned to her passion, the hotel business and has worked on many high profile Luxury Brand hotel projects over the past Decade.
Marcia Levine
Marcia has over 20 years in the health and fitness industry as a personal trainer and fitness model. She is a former owner of four Gold's Gyms in Toronto, Canada. As an actress, She has appeared on TV and in motion pictures, photographed in over 500 print ads and has done commercials for Gold's Gym worldwide. Having also competed in hunter/jumper equestrian events for the last 20 years, Marcia reached a level in the top 20 riders in Calif. She is currently training with Don Simington on her jumper "Fred". As a founding member of Healing Horses, Marcia's personality ensures an exuberant environment for the children to experience learning and growth both physically and mentally.
